The ice is in! If you are heading to the arena this weekend this is what you will need to know:
COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements – Municipal Facilities
Starting September 22, you need to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination to access select indoor services and programs taking place at the Paul J. Yakabuski Community Centres, Combermere Community Centre and the Railway Station.
The Township of Madawaska Valley is implementing these procedures required by the Government of Ontario’s proof of vaccination regulations. Some exceptions are permitted under these regulations.
Please be patient and respectful with Township staff and volunteers as they begin implementing these new provincial protocols and plan to arrive early for your activity to ensure there is adequate time to complete the necessary checks.
Proof of vaccine requirements
The following will be required at the point of entry:
Ontario Ministry of Health COVID-19 vaccination certificate or another Government-issued vaccination record.
Acceptable identification which includes name & birthdate – photo ID is not required. Examples include birth certificate, citizenship card, driver’s license or other government-issued ID.
As per provincial regulations, anyone who refuses to share the required information will not be permitted to enter Township recreation/culture centres. Limited exceptions apply.

Who needs to show proof of vaccination at Township recreation/culture centres:
Patrons 18 and older
Any youth 12-17 not actively participating in an organized sport
Who does not need to show proof of vaccination at Township recreation/culture centres:

Under the Provincial Government regulations, the following individuals are exempt from showing proof of vaccination at Township community centres, arenas and cultural facilities:

Children under 12 years of age (must be accompanied by a vaccinated adult)
Youth (12 to 17 years of age) who are going into a recreational facility only if they are entering for the purpose of actively participating in an organized sport (Governing bodies of sports leagues may have more restrictive participation requirements).
Patrons entering an indoor area solely for the following purposes:
to use a washroom;
to access an outdoor area that can only be accessed through an indoor route;
as may be necessary for the purposes of health and safety.
Patrons who provide written documents completed and supplied by a physician or registered nurse stating that the individual is exempt for a medical reason from being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and the effective time-period for the medical reason.
