Becoming a Member

Age Requirements

A person of any age may become a member of the Madawaska Valley Public Library.

  • Ages 1-12 will obtain a children’s card and must have a parent sign for them.
  • Ages 13 -17 will receive a Young Adult card.
  • Ages 18+ will receive an Adult card.

 

Madawaska Valley Residents

To obtain membership you can apply for one at the Madawaska Valley Public Library. Just bring valid photo ID (i.e., driver’s license) including proof of local residency. Regular memberships expire after two years and must be renewed in-person at the library.

If you own a cottage or any property in the Township of Madawaska Valley there will be no charge, but you must provide proof that you own property or reside in this township.

Brudenell, Lydoch & Raglan Residents

Brudenell, Lyndoch & Raglan residents and property owners may also apply for a free membership as BLR contracts its library services through the Madawaska Valley Public Library. Proof of residency is required for a library membership. BLR library memberships expire after one year and must be renewed in-person at the library.

Non-Residents 

If you do not live or own property in Madawaska Valley Township or Brudenell, Lydoch & Raglan Township, you may still apply for a non-resident membership for a fee of $30.00 per family per year.

Temporary memberships are available for $10.00 per family for 3 months.

We also have summer, student, and business memberships. Please inquire at the library. 

Borrowing & Returning Materials

The Madawaska Valley Public Library provides an extensive selection of books, DVDs and CDs in a variety of genres for adults and children. The library does not place any restriction on the number of books that can be checked out by a library member at any one time.

Due to their high demand the number of audio/visual materials such as DVDs and CDs is restricted . Members can have up to 6 DVDs and 6 CDs checked out for a total of 12 audio/visual items per membership card.
